This Privacy Policy explains how FitPattern handles information when you use the FitPattern iOS application. FitPattern is a sewing workflow tool for recording fitting photos, pattern projects, fabrics, optional measurements, alteration notes, review results, version comparisons, and share cards.
1. Information Stored on Your Device
FitPattern may store the following information locally:
- Pattern project titles, garment types, base sizes, status, reusable pattern notes, and update dates.
- Fitting records, including record labels, fabric names, fitting notes, tags, ratings, linked fitting history, photo annotations, alteration plans, review results, and version comparisons.
- Garment and pattern photos selected from the photo library or captured with the camera.
- Fabric profiles, including fabric properties and notes.
- Optional measurement profiles, including an owner label, garment type, measurements, privacy selection, and notes.
- Share-card settings and generated card text, including selected photos and hidden-field preferences.
- Local AI usage-limit date and successful-result count.
Structured records and settings are stored using iOS local preferences. Saved fitting photos are stored as files in the app's local application support directory. FitPattern does not operate a remote storage account for this content.
2. Information Sent for Fit Reviews
When you choose to generate or retry a fit review, FitPattern sends selected information to a third-party automated processing service over the internet. The request may include the garment type, fabric information, fitting notes, previous fitting context, and up to eight selected garment or pattern photos. Measurement fields are included only when the selected measurement profile is marked "Use for review."
When you request a version comparison, FitPattern sends text from the two selected fitting records, including record labels, fabric names, saved summaries, issue text, issue confirmation status, and recorded changes. The returned review or comparison is stored locally with the related fitting record.
The third-party processing service receives the request content and network information needed to deliver the response. Its handling of transmitted information is governed by its own service practices. Deleting local FitPattern data does not recall information already transmitted for a completed request. Do not submit content that you do not want processed by an external service.
3. Measurement Privacy Controls
Measurement profiles support three settings:
- Local only: measurement fields remain on the device and are not included in fit-review requests.
- Use for review: measurement fields may be included when you request a fit review using that profile.
- Hide on export: measurement fields and measurement notes are omitted from the current measurement-profile section of the JSON data export.
A measurement snapshot saved inside an earlier fitting record is encoded as part of that record and may remain in an export even if the source measurement profile is later changed to "Hide on export." Review the exported JSON before sharing it. Measurements are optional. FitPattern does not require a face photo or personal body measurements to use its project and record-management features.
4. Device Permissions
- Camera: used when you choose to capture fitting or pattern photos.
- Photo Library: used when you choose existing photos or save an exported alteration card to the library.
- Microphone: used while you dictate fitting notes.
- Speech Recognition: used to convert dictated audio into editable text. Audio may be processed by Apple's speech recognition services according to device capabilities and Apple settings.
You can deny or later change these permissions in iOS Settings. FitPattern does not request access to location, contacts, calendars, reminders, Bluetooth, Health data, motion data, or notifications.
5. Advertising and Diagnostics
FitPattern does not display advertising, offer in-app purchases, or perform campaign attribution. It does not upload operational diagnostics.
6. AI Usage Limit
FitPattern retrieves the maximum number of successful AI review or comparison results per day from a remote configuration endpoint hosted on Vercel. If the remote value is missing or invalid, the app uses a default limit of 20 successful results per day. The effective limit may change when the remote configuration is updated. FitPattern stores the local calendar date and count used to enforce this limit; failed requests and invalid responses do not increase the count. FitPattern does not process payments or store purchase records.
7. Exporting and Sharing
You may export app data as a JSON file through the iOS share sheet. The JSON contains structured records and local photo-path text, but it does not attach the photo image files. You may also copy share-card text, save a share-card image to the photo library, or send an exported image through the iOS share sheet. Before export, share-card controls let you exclude selected photos, fabric information, and private notes. Once you choose another app or service from the share sheet, that recipient handles the shared content under its own terms and privacy practices.
FitPattern does not upload share cards to a public FitPattern feed and does not make your records visible to other FitPattern users.
8. Retention and Deletion
Your local records remain on the device until you delete them, delete all product data, or remove the app. The app provides controls to delete individual fitting records, pattern projects, fabric profiles, and measurement profiles. Deleting a fitting or pattern also removes its associated saved photo files and related saved share cards where applicable.
"Delete All Product Data" removes pattern projects, fitting records, fabrics, measurements, share cards, the saved fitting form state, and photo files referenced by saved fitting records. The current deletion logic does not separately remove a local image file referenced only by an unfinished or failed fitting form. It also does not reset the AI usage-limit count. Files that you previously exported, copied, saved to the photo library, or shared must be deleted from their destination separately.
9. Security
FitPattern relies on iOS application storage and system permission controls to protect local information. Internet transmission is performed using encrypted HTTPS connections. No storage or transmission method can be guaranteed to be completely secure, so review the content you select before requesting external processing or sharing it.
10. Children's Privacy
FitPattern is a general sewing tool and is not directed specifically to children. The app does not knowingly request a child's name, contact details, account, or public profile. A parent or guardian should supervise a child's use of photos, measurements, exports, and external processing features.
11. Changes to This Policy
This policy may be updated when FitPattern's functionality or data practices change. The updated page will identify its effective date.
